I’m Shaina and welcome to Runner with Reiselust.
I am a runner, self-identified for the past 15 years (since junior high track). I am passionate about running but not quite obsessed, so I consider my passion healthy. I also have Reiselust. This is a German word meaning “desire to travel.” Its like wanderlust, but with a purpose!
I have run eight marathons (Boston thrice, qualified six times), countless other races, and am a member of the Potomac River Running =PR= DC/Elite race team. I am also a new 2017 Nuun Ambassador! Team Nuun 🙂 I have chronic hip problems and have become a master of foam rolling, kinesio tape, and Biofreeze. I truly believe that anyone can put on a pair of tennis shoes, go for a jog/yog/run or whatever, and surprise the crap out of themselves so beginner runners and not so hardcore runners are welcome here too!
I lived in Germany for three years after graduating from college as I was stationed there as an Army Officer. I moved back to the U.S. in December 2014 and live in Washington, DC with my husband Jeremy and our dog/running partner, Bailey. As of August 2016 I am officially an Army Veteran. I have an innate love for travel, exploration, hiking, experiencing new cultures, and navigating the unfamiliar.
Join me on this journey as I adjust to civilian life as a full-time graduate student pursuing my passions and sharing life lessons from five years active duty military service, 15 years of running, and adult life spent on two continents with many adventures to come!
